Planning a 10-day trip to Vietnam can feel overwhelming because there’s so much to see and do, but with a bit of planning, you can experience the highlights and still have time to soak in the local culture. In this post, I’ll walk you through a detailed 10-day itinerary, sharing my personal experiences, tips, and a few surprises along the way.
Vietnam 10 days
| Morning/Afternoon: Arrive in Hanoi. Check into your hotel. Evening: Stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake, explore the Old Quarter’s night market, and try Bún chả or Phở. Optional: Watch a traditional water puppet show. |
Morning: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Presidential Palace, One Pillar Pagoda.
Afternoon: Temple of Literature, Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
Evening: Egg coffee at a rooftop café with a view of Hoan Kiem Lake.
Take a 2D1N cruise in Halong Bay (UNESCO site with limestone karsts).
Activities: Kayaking, visiting caves, sunset on deck, squid fishing at night.
Morning: Sunrise on the cruise, return to port.
Afternoon: Flight to Da Nang, transfer to Hoi An.
Evening: Lantern-lit streets, try Cao Lầu noodles.
Explore Japanese Covered Bridge, old merchant houses, and tailor shops.
Afternoon: Cycling to An Bang Beach or Tra Que Vegetable Village.
Evening: Night market, floating lanterns on Thu Bồn River.
Morning: Day trip to My Son Sanctuary (Cham ruins).
Afternoon: Visit Marble Mountains & Da Nang beaches.
Evening: Golden Dragon Bridge (Da Nang) or return to Hoi An.
Morning: Transfer to Hue via Hai Van Pass.
Afternoon: Imperial City (Citadel), Thien Mu Pagoda.
Evening: Try Bún bò Huế and enjoy a Perfume River cruise.
Morning flight to Saigon.
Afternoon: War Remnants Museum, Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office.
Evening: Ben Thanh Market & street food tour.
Visit My Tho or Ben Tre.
Activities: Boat ride through canals, coconut candy making, fruit orchards, folk music.
Morning: Explore Cu Chi Tunnels.
Afternoon: Last-minute shopping.
Evening: Flight home.
